The two companies are finalizing the details of the partnership and the operation is expected to start in the second half.

Aracruz (ES), June 18,2021 - As part of its cargo diversification strategy, Portocel is partnering with Multilift Logística, which will use the port located in Barra do Riacho (Aracruz/ES) to handle pig iron. The companies are negotiating the details of the operation, which is expected to start in the second half of this year.

The operation is in line with Portocel's strategy of consolidating itself as a business port and as a differentiated logistical option based on its recognized operational excellence. For Multilift, Portocel is an important logistical alternative that provides a valuable differential solution for the cargo. The deeper draft and a dedicated infrastructure raise the Terminal's competitiveness and consequently of the capixaba market at a level of relevant expression.

“We are open to seek new strategic partnerships. This project materializes the construction of a logistics solution developed in partnership with Multilift, which has know-how and expertise in this operation. The activities will be carried out in line with the standards required by the client, the market and the regulatory bodies", highlights Alexandre Billot Mori, general manager of Port Operations at Portocel.

"The export of pig iron through Espirito Santo ports has been extremely important in the trade balance of Minas Gerais, generating value in several production chains in these states for about 60 years. The partnership between Multilift, the main port operator for pig iron producers in the Port of Vitória and Portocel, a high-performance port terminal, will make the Espírito Santo export solution more competitive and also will integrate with the other infrastructures that currently serve the pig iron sector " complements Rafael Fattorelli, CEO of Multilift Logística.

The president of the Union of the Iron Industry in the State of Minas Gerais (SINDIFER), Fausto Varela Cançado reinforces the meaning of partnership. "For pig iron producers in Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo, this partnership between Portocel and Multilift will certainly be a very important solution for the export of their products because it opens a new shipment option, especially for larger ships with quality of operation and excellent infrastructure”, he comments.

The president of SINDIFER and the CEO of Multilift were at Portocel last week where they met with Terminal executives and learned about details of the infrastructure and operational capacity of the Portocel.
