Social Responsibility

All the companies associated to SINDFER are committed with the generation of jobs and income, aiming to improve labor conditions and life quality of the workers and their families.
All those situations that may suggest an illegal relationship or on the contrary of good practices – like child labor – are abhorred by the sector, no matters how slight this relationship may be. This position is adopted not only by the companies but also by the suppliers and it is particularly emphasized in forestry and charcoal manufacturing.
At the communities where the companies are inserted, actions are implemented aiming the development in order to provide better life conditions for the residents in the townships and regions.

 Jobs and Income

Generation of Jobs and income is the strongest commitment of the company independent producers of pig iron.
The influence of the companies may be directly in all the operation branches but also in acculturation of direct suppliers, mainly forestry companies and charcoal production.
Those are intensive activities in the generation of direct and indirect jobs what expands further the results obtained that do not remain restricted to the company limits but reach all the community in general.
So, these two activities, pig iron and charcoal production are indeed important in:

  • Direct and indirect jobs;
  • Payment of fees and taxes;
  • Investments in infrastructure;
  • Consumption of locally produced goods;
  • Incentive to new businesses– including forest plantations on unproductive areas;
  • Participation in community activities.
    Because of its (iron ore) deposits and available lands (either idle or with low productivity), the sector of pig iron and forestry/charcoal have a great potential growth both in Minas Gerais and in Brazil.
