The foundry industrial park in Minas Gerais came to work with 70% idleness in 2020, but the resumption of industrial activities, after the period of strong restrictions to stop Covid-19 dissemination, the losses were reduced at the closing of the year. The production dropped 9% in relation to the 650 thousand tons in 2019, but the expected production drop was 30%. Expectances are positive for 2021. Among the factors that may leverage the recovery of the national economy and contribute to the growth of the foundry industry are the approval of reforms proposed by federal government and the presentation of major projects of infrastructure and basic sanitation.
