The domestic steel market is expected to grow in 2021, according to forecasts by Instituto Aço Brasil (IABr). The projection is of 5.3% in domestic sales and 5.8% in apparent consumption, 6% for flat steel and 5.5% for long products. The Instituto rules out any risk of shortage of steel products.
Brazilian production of crude steel raised from 2.711 million tons in January to 2.784 million tons in October 2020.
On the same basis of comparison, domestic sales of rolled products jumped from 1,509 million to 1,894 million tons. Priority has been given to the domestic market. Exports had a drop of 46.6% in October. (DIÁRIO DO COMÉRCIO – Nov. 28/2020).
